WanderCove ("we," "us," or "our") is a personal travel-writing website operated by Cole Mader. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit wandercovetravel.com or use our tools (including the Wandertype quiz), how we use it, and the choices you have. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Email address — when you join the Dispatch, ask to be notified about an itinerary, or sign up anywhere on the site.
- Signup context — where on the site you signed up, which destination or itinerary you were interested in, and optional answers you choose to give us, such as what you'd be willing to pay for an itinerary or a recommendation score (NPS).
- Wandertype responses — if you take the Wandertype quiz, your answers and resulting traveler archetype.
Information collected automatically
- Usage and device data — pages viewed, links and buttons clicked, referring site, approximate location (derived from your IP address, not precise), browser and device type. We collect this through our analytics provider to understand what's useful and what to build next.
- Cookies and similar technologies — small pieces of data stored by your browser. See "Cookies and analytics" below.
How we use your information
- To send you the Dispatch newsletter and notify you when itineraries or tools you asked about are ready.
- To understand how the site is used so we can improve it and decide which content to create.
- To respond to you when you contact us.
- To protect the site against abuse and keep it working.
Where the law requires a legal basis (for example, for visitors in the EU/UK), we rely on your consent for marketing emails and analytics cookies, and on our legitimate interest in running and improving the site for basic, privacy-respecting usage measurement.
How your information is shared
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for others' advertising. We use a small number of trusted service providers who process data on our behalf, only to run the site:
- Beehiiv — stores our email list and sends the Dispatch.
- PostHog — privacy-focused product analytics.
- Vercel — hosts the website (including Wandertype).
Each provider has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.
Cookies and analytics
We use analytics to see how the site is used. When you first visit, we ask whether you consent to analytics. If you decline, we do not set analytics cookies or track your behavior; if you accept, we use them to measure usage as described above. You can change your mind at any time by clearing your browser storage for this site or emailing us. Essential storage needed for the site to function is always used and does not track you across other sites.
Data retention
We keep your email and related information for as long as you're subscribed or until you ask us to delete it. Analytics data is retained in aggregate to spot trends over time. If you unsubscribe, we remove you from active mailings promptly.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe — every email has an unsubscribe link, and it works immediately.
- Access, correct, or delete — email hello@wandercovetravel.com and we'll honor reasonable requests to see, fix, or delete the personal information we hold about you.
- EU/UK visitors — you have rights under the GDPR, including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, and the right to withdraw consent.
- California residents — you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including to know what we collect and to request deletion. We do not sell your personal information.
International visitors
We operate from the United States, and our service providers may process data in the United States and elsewhere. By using the site, you understand your information may be processed in countries with different data-protection laws than your own.
Children
The site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, and we rely on established providers (above) to do the same. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site grows (for example, when we add payments or affiliate links). We'll change the "last updated" date above, and significant changes will be noted on the site.
